Founded in 1949, Pack 2 is one of the oldest Cub Scout Packs in Rhode Island. We meet on Tuesday nights at The Church of the Ascension, 390 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI.

Our leaders are Cubmaster Fred Theilig, Committee Chair Judy Forgue, Den Leader Sona Theilig, and Committee Member Steve Parenteau.

Cub Scouts is a division of the Boy Scouts of America for boys from first to fifth grade. Scouting is a twelve month program and children can join at any time, although most join in September at the beginning of the school year.

Boys in the Pack are grouped by school grade: First graders are called Tiger Cubs, Wolf Cubs in second grade, Bear Cubs in third grade, and Webelos in both forth and fifth grade. All children meet once a month for a Pack meeting where awards are presented, events are announced, songs are sung, and games are played. In addition, children meet several times a month in their dens to work on projects and advancement.

The goal of scouting is not to learn targeted skills like kicking a ball. They learn core skills like the importance of community, the value of working together, and the thrill of helping others. Along the way they will participate in physical activites and learn skills in science, the arts, and nature.

At it's core scouting is an outdoors organization. We teach self reliance by giving children the opportunity to do things for themselves in a parent monitored setting.
